What is Defenders for Justice?

Defenders for Justice recognizes the top criminal defense attorneys in the United States. Our mission is twofold: to help worthy lawyers differentiate themselves in a crowded market, and to help defendants find the best attorneys near them. Lawyers who meet our selection criteria have access to powerful marketing tools that help them earn trust with potential clients, drive revenue, and boost their reputation.
 

How does Defenders for Justice select attorneys for recognition?

Is Defenders for Justice a pay-to-play award?

No. There is no fee to be nominated for Defenders for Justice. Selected attorneys are considered Defenders for Justice honorees and can publicize their inclusion without paying a fee. However, only honorees who purchase a profile have access to the marketing tools that Defenders for Justice provides, including use of a custom logo and a listing in our online directory. This is consistent with other legitimate legal rating services.

How long can I use my Defenders for Justice benefits?

Honorees can use their benefits through the end of the calendar year of the award. For example, a 2025 honoree may use their logo until January 1, 2026.

Where can I use my Defenders for Justice logo?

Honorees with Basic profiles can use their Defenders for Justice logo on digital platforms, such as social media, websites, email signatures, and online profiles. Honorees with Premium and Platinum profiles are free to use their custom logo on digital platforms as well as printed marketing material.

How do I pay for my benefits? What type of payments do you accept?

There are two ways to select and purchase your membership tier. Honorees automatically receive a "Quick Purchase" link via email when they are notified of their inclusion. Using this link allows you to purchase your marketing benefits online using any major credit card through secure payment platform Square. Please note that Quick Purchase will automatically renew annually, so long as you continue to meet Defenders for Justice criteria. This will allow you to receive updated marketing materials each year without interruption.

If you prefer to opt out of auto renew, we can send an invoice via email, take payment over the phone, or accept checks in the mail. This option also allows you to make a purchase via credit card, ACH bank transfer, Cash App, or Afterpay. Please note that this payment option may cause a delay or interruption in receiving your marketing benefits each year.

Do you offer refunds?

No, we do not offer refunds for marketing benefits. We provide proofs of marketing materials before they are created to ensure that your benefits are accurate. If there are any inaccuracies in the materials you receive, we will do our best to address them; however, this is not always possible due to printing deadlines. If you purchased your marketing benefits using Quick Purchase, you may cancel auto renew any time before you are charged again. Auto renew customers will receive a reminder before they are charged.
